Character demographics
Nikki. Age: 25-30 Female, Caucasian
is an English teacher and Pat People's ex-wife. Before Pat even entered the psychiatric hospital, she was unfaithful to him. After their divorce, while Pat was still in the psychiatric hospital, she had remarried. As of now, she has two children- a boy and a girl, and is happily married to another man. A restraining order is in effect between her and Pat Peoples. No contact whatsoever can be made between them. In this novel, she actually never has a chance to speak.
Mrs. Peoples (Delores), age 45-55 (Hispanic or Caucasian)
Pat's mother, is a gentle woman who does not have enough courage to stand up for herself. Her kind heart has allowed herself to believe that even though she is treated badly by her somewhat abusive, introverted husband, her family can still be together in peace. In a way, she can be oblivious to her surroundings. Physically, she is fragile and shorter than Pat Peoples. All she ever really thinks about are the choices she can make in order for Pat to be happy. For example, she bought him equipment for a home gym.
Mr. Peoples Age 45-55 (Hispanic)
is the father of Pat and the husband of Mrs. Peoples. If not in the living room watching an Eagles game, he is in his study and reading about historical fiction. He is quite introverted and it seems as if he doesn't appreciate his son's presence in his home again. His mood depends on every Eagles game- happy if they win; angry and rude if they lose.
Officer Keogh, Late 20's-30s (Hispanic)
a police officer who is seen briefly in the film. He is one of the few law enforcement officials who interacts with pat through out the film
Ronnie Age 25-30 Male
is a character known for being Pat's friend and confidante. He is a supportive figure in Pat's life, particularly when Pat is struggling to cope with his bipolar disorder and his past. Ronnie is also depicted as being a gay man in the film.
